(no subject) [Nov. 30th, 2005|03:08 pm]
Well had most of last week off of classes. Monday had classes most of the day like usual. Tuesday - Philosophy at 8am, but we had a test so I was in the car to head home by 9 (a half hour earlier that if we'd had actual class class). Was home by 12:30 so went to lunch with Dad and Alex. Then went home and sat on my butt and did absolutly nothing until Dana came over a couple hours later and then the three of us (Dana, Alex and myself) went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Wednesday was rather uneventful, but I'm not complaining. It was nice to be home for a while.

Then there was Thursday, Thanksgiving. In the morning helped Mom peel 15 pounds of potatos to make mashed potatos for that evening. Was yelled at numerous times to stop playing video games (myself and Alex of course) and help with things which of course like usual we helped til we finished the one thing we were specificly told to do and then wandered back to the game. Hey, we had an X-Box 360 to break in! Went to the grandparent's around 1ish like usual. Dan had a hang over which made dinner more entertaining than usual as he made sound effects. Dana came over too so there were eight of us smooshed at the 'Kids' table (and I say 'Kids' because that's what it's still called even though the youngest are nearly 16 now) rather than seven. The kids (being the grandkids of course) go to a movie then, seems to have become something of a tradition since I was old enough to drive and therefore take us to the theatre when we get bored of sitting at our grandparent's house. So we went to see Harry Potter (again). My mom and dad, my uncle, Shauna, Nicole, Alex, Aaron, Dan and myself. Of course Shauna talked Dan into going because she'd buy his ticket for him. Once there, we took nearly a whole row (then again there were nine of us) and Dan proceeded to 'quiz' Nicole so he'd have some idea of who was who and what was going on. Dan, Duane, Mom and Dad were the ones who hadn't seen it already.

Friday was just another day. That night went to see Pride and Prejudice with Dana. Saturday afternoon I went shopping with Mom, got some fleece to make blankets since it was 50% off. Made one that night. Finished making Jackson's Christmas stocking on Sunday, with some help from Mom. Left aroun 2 on Sunday afternoon to drive back to school. It was rainy and foggy and the drive was just blah. But it could have been worse.

So all in all, like I said, was nice to be home for awhile and not really do anything in particular. Of course now I have a ton of school related stuff that I still need to work on because I didn't even look at it over break. Two and a half weeks of classes left now. One 30 slide powerpoint presentation to give on the 12th, a 2000 word paper due by noon on the 22st, a couple hundred pages to read, a book to read and do an in class writting assignment on the 7th, and a few other smallish projects in the next couple weeks. I'm ready for the semester to be DONE, but I'm not. I have too much stuff to do before it's done. Anyhow.. yeah. Should read for class now.

Weddings... [Aug. 15th, 2005|08:08 pm]
Why???

That's all I have to say really.

So two years ago my best friend got married. She now has a 4 month old.

Last spring (2004) one of the girls I worked with got married.

On September 25th, I went to my second cousin's wedding.

In May, a friend emailed me out of the blue after a year or so of non existance that he was getting married in a little over a week.

In October the little sister of one of my good friends is getting married.

In November, my best friend from High School is getting married.

Three weeks ago, a friend tells me I need to talk to another friend I haven't really talked to in awhile. I had been thinking I should drop him a line sometime soon anyhow, so like a week later I gave him a call. He called me back later and tells me.... he's getting married in March.

And that's just the friends. I know how many other people that I used to go to school with and such that I've heard about getting married and/or having kids in the last two years.

So like I said...

Why????
What's up with all that.
Bah!

One Class of Summer Down..... [Jun. 18th, 2005|11:47 pm]
Two to go. Start Spanish at 8am on the 27th of June. Going down to Country USA in Oshkosh this week. Will be fun. Much drinking and making fun of drunk people. Maybe will run into Kat again. I haven't seen her since last year down there. That was when she told me she was getting married in November 05, and Nicole asked me when I was going to get married because she wants to be the flower girl. Anyhow... yeah...

Have Spanish left and to finish my internship. Really need to start doing research so I can write the scripts for the Cemetery walk since I need to get those to the actors by August 1st. Math is done. Yesterday was the last day of that class. I got an A! Woot! Go me.

Went up to the other house with Dad today. We then stopped over at the shop to see if Bill was there, which he wasn't so we stopped by his house and he wasn't there either. I would have liked him to be. He kinda creeps me out. He's my grandmother's older brother. (Sus, you know who I'm talking about.) Dad was pissed at him cause he keeps taking things from the house and such and not saying anything about it. So yeah, Dad's kinda mad about that. And then today when we went up my grandparents where there and we found out that the most recent thing Bill had done was move two pictures. As in take them off the wall, take out the nails they were hanging on, and put nails in the wall elsewhere to hang them up where he wanted too. So yeah, it would have been randomly amusing to see Dad tell him to give his key to the house back.

So on another note, should I really have to initiate the conversation every time I have one with one of my friends. That just doesn't exactly make sense to me. You'd think that they could call me once in awhile, or initate a conversation when we're both online, or maybe send an email once in awhile, but no. That doesn't happen. Ah well.

(no subject) [May. 26th, 2005|09:11 pm]
Hmm... So what's been going on... Not to very much.

Drove lots that week. Last final was that Wednesday (the 11th). Drove home after that, so got home around 3:30ish. Thursday night drove back to River Falls with Dad to take my bed to the apartment and finish moving stuff out of the dorm room. Friday morning came home. Saturday drove down to Madison to meet Jenny and Julie and Sue and John and everyone else for Julie's birthday. That was well... I think everyone else had fun. Drove back home that evening. Didn't get pulled over on 151 by pure dumb luck. State Patrol car pulled up next to me and pulled over the guy in front of me while I was going about 10 over, and the other guy couldn't have been doing much more if he was. Sunday drove back to River Falls so I could work on Monday at the Octagon House Museum with the St. Croix Historical Society (is my internship for the summer). Tuesday worked a couple hours at the archives and then drove home.

Saturday I went fishing with Dad. We took the canoe out on one of the little lakes by the other house. I out fished him. He only got one bite. I got two and caught the second one. Would have had the first too, but the line was over some reeds so the lure jumped over them just as the fish was trying to grab it. So yeah, we had bass for supper that night. Was good. Was home til Sunday and then worked Monday and Tuesday same as the week before. Am home now til Monday. Hopefully it's the router that's giving me trouble with the internet at the apartment and Duane can fix it for me so I can be online while I'm there.

Start Math class on Tuesday. That lasts for three weeks. Then I have a week off which is the week of Country USA. Then have 4 weeks of Spanish. Have lots of research in there too, coming up with information on some people for the cemetary walk in Hudson. That's due by August 1st. Then have to research and write my Octagon House paper for the internship in there sometime too.

Grades are in from last semester now. 4 A's and 1 B. Got a B in English, but I was expecting that since I had gotten a B on like everything in that class. That at the guy was super irritating. Yes, lets spend 20 minutes of class talking about how cool you think Sponge Bob is. Gag me! I HATE Sponge Bob, and besides... what the hell does that have to do with a Heroic Figure in Lit class? Anyhow.. yeah. Was happy to see I got an A in Middle Ages. That was the Faith and Crusades paper that I was freaking out about.

(no subject) [Apr. 21st, 2005|08:53 pm]
Hmm... So it's been awhile. Oops?

About my car... Got it fixed. Even though it was a hit and run its considered collision by the insurance company so it cost me a $500 deductible rather than a $100 one. It's fixed now though.

Classes are going alright. Ready to be done with the semester. Still have a few projects to finish up, but well there's always something going on for class. Getting really sick of my English professor. I really don't like him and I know I'm not the only one. What in the world does SpongeBob *twitch* have to do with a Heroic Figure in Lit class?

Lets see... what else has been going on.... Mom had sugery over break (thinks... the 26th-ish of March?, it was the last Friday anyhow) to have her thyroid removed. It went fine and she's supposed to be starting treatment/medication stuff tomorrow.

Darrin made it through his theis defence, but you can read his journal or talk to him for more about that.

Tera had the baby on April 8th. It's a boy, I don't remember if I said that before or not. Blonde hair, blue eyes, dark complected. They're doing fine from what I hear.

So yeah... I think that's about it. Not too much going on lately other than school and that's the same old, same old.

Oh! I did get my Ireland project back on Tuesday. Got an A on that.

Registered for fall classes last Friday, got into all but one but that'll be alright. Will just have to hope classes are offered at the right times next spring so I can fit them in, or maybe I'll just have to go with J-Term classes again which wouldn't be so very bad either.

Had an interview on the 29th of March for an internship this summer. Got that! *cheers* So have that this summer and two class classes (Math and Spanish). Trish is going to talk to Belinda tomorrow and see if she's still looking for a roommate for summer and if she is I might move into an apartment with her for the summer, otherwise I'll be in the dorms again.

I need a hug.... [Feb. 24th, 2005|11:07 pm]
[mood | stressed]

Glad today is over. Had my English test this morning. No one had enough time to really finish it well but I think (and hopefully I did) do well enough. Was still stressfull though.

Got my Anthro test back from Tuesday. Got a B on that. Got my Art test back from last week. Got an A on that. Yay me!

Went out to my car with Andrea this afternoon because we were going to go to the store and I get there and there's a big dent in the side of my car were it looks like someone opened their door and slammed it into my car, plus a huge scratch across the door. Talked to Dad, he's going to call the insurance company and get that taken care of and make an appointment somewhere to get it fixed over break. Go to the store, get stuff for Andrea's speech (mod podge demonstration) and got some nice cheap stuff, got Carye a Birthday present. Driving back to school and the Service Engine light comes on. Bah! So yeah. Going to check some things out on my car about that tomorrow afternoon. Most likely it's just a reminder that goes off automaticly at a certain milage.

Then you can throw in the consolidation stuff for the dorms. Bah. Got that letter yesterday, have to turn in the sheet tomorrow. I can move in with someone else who doesn't have a roommate, can have someone else who doesn't have a roommate move in with me, or I can decide to keep my single room and pay the difference. So yeah, don't want to pay the difference. Honestly I don't really care too much about having a roommate or not right now. I've already moved twice this year though and I don't want to move again. Plus I have carpeting that would just be a pain in the butt to move and I don't have anywhere to put some of the stuff I have if someone I were to move in with had it or whatever because it's not like I can just put it in my car or keep it in the room for 2-3 days and take it home on the weekend. Ahh well... I'll live.

So yeah, just glad this week is over. Should start working on papers, or atleast ideas/research for papers this weekend so I can have a start on those and they don't sneek up on me too much at the end of the semester.

Paper Confetti [Feb. 17th, 2005|01:16 pm]
[mood | frustrated]

You know... I know people are busy with their own lives, but sometimes it would be nice to have someone pay attention to me. Maybe I'm just being whiny, but you know what? I just really don't care right now. Everyone complains sometimes.

I'm glad Valentine's Day is over. Andrea got the little 'hug bears' from Hallmark in the mail from her boyfriend Thursday and then got the whole little Hallmark package of roses, teddy bear and chocolates from him on V-Day. Mariah's boyfriend told her he couldn't come because of some game that he had to play at to get her to think the he couldn't do anything and then showed up with heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies. Boys Choir went around and sang barbershop type love songs for people (yes, you could buy a singging valentine) who had had one bought for them. Ect. Ect.

I got a card from my grandparents (dad's side), talked to my mom for a few and she said they were going to send a card but forgot. Talked to Nicole (my 14 year old cousin) and we agreed that I'd take her to a movie when I go home at the begining of March. Her birthday is next Saturday (the 26th) so yeah. So then me and Theresa went to Applebees Tuesday for dessert.

Just really wanting to talk to someone. John was busy Monday night so he said we'd talk later in the week. Fine. I don't see it happening, but whatever. Darrin is working on his thesis every time I hear a word from him online and sometimes I just want to take the thing and rip it into tiny little shreads. Derek was at work last night so he said he'd call me this afternoon. He said that Tuesday too, so well yeah. Whatever. I stopped expecting people to call when they say they will a long time ago. It just doesn't happen.
I DON'T WANT TO TALK LATER!
*ahem* No, when I say I want to talk to someone I want to talk to someone. Okay, I get that people are busy and aren't going to drop everything for me. But well yeah. Everyone is selfish like that at least once. I don't know. I guess I just want to figure out what I'm doing. Where I'm going or something. *shrugs* Sorry guys. Luff ya.

Writing [Feb. 3rd, 2005|12:11 am]

So I wrote something I'm more willing to share with others than anything else I've written next to say school work/papers, ect. If you want to read it let me know and I'll send it to you or something. It doesn't have a title or I'd let you know what that was. Only thing is that people keep saying it's good. Just tell me something that's wrong with it. I don't know, maybe I'm just weird like that. *shrugs* Or at very least if you're going to say it's good give me some idea why you think so. Please? Thanks D. *snugs* I don't know. You really made my day. It was a long day. I went to class and when I wasn't there I was working on something/reading for class. What you said just really made me feel good about myself. So yeah, thanks again.

New Job [Jan. 30th, 2005|12:14 am]
Yep! I got a new job. I had applied for to work at the archives on campus before winter break. From how Sue (she was the director at that time) was talking it sounded to me like all that really was going to make the difference between getting it or not was if they had money in the buget to pay me since I'm not workstudy. When I got back to school I stopped over there to ask about it and Sue is gone, her husband got a new job so she was moving with him, and Steph is the director now. She actually had the job before Sue so she's been there before and such, but yeah. She kinda sounded the same way and then I got a call from her on Wednesday just before I was leaving for my evening class and I got the job. Its only like 5 hours a week, but that's plenty with classes yet and such anyhow. Only pays like minimum wage, but it's money from the state and mostly it's the experience. So yeah, yay me. Start on Monday.

Didn't do much of anything today. Really didn't feel like spending the day reading which I'll more than likely pay for later, but oh well. Went to the hockey game tonight with Laura, Theresa, Carye, Maria and Andy. Laura was going to another friend's after the game so she was driving over there so she didn't have to walk back from said friend's house by herself that late at night, so she gave us a ride down there. Six people in a bug. That was almost as interesting as six people in Darrin's Camaro that one time. Anyhow... We won 2-0 against Superior. Laura went to her friend's house and the rest of us went to Dairy Queen and then back to the dorm to finish the movie we'd started before dinner. That kinda sucked, but the game was fun as usual.

Home Again [Jan. 20th, 2005|03:31 pm]
[mood | content]

Yep! I'm home again. Got here around 10 last night after getting on a plane in Shannon, Ireland at around 12:30ish GMT. Got to Chicago around 5:30ish CST and there my Dad and my Grandfather picked me up and drove me home. Stopped at Mayfair in Milwaukee for a short break and to get something to eat.

I had a great time. I have lots of pictures. Most of you I know should have gotten a postcard from me and if you didn't you should be getting it within the next day or so I would think. I'll try to get at least some of my pictures up on my website so you all can see them, but school starts on Monday and I have like 300 pictures. So family is coming over tomorrow night for supper, Ellen is bringing a cake for a combination of my dad's birthday (his was the 8th) and Duane's birthday which is coming up on Sunday (I think), and going to show pictures on the TV and such.

Going to drive back to school on Saturday or Sunday. I'm thinking Saturday cause then I get there and have all day Sunday to unpack and settle back in and meet the new roomie. Yes, I have another one. Amanda moved off campus so I'll have a new roomie when I go back to school.

Someone called while I was gone. My dad mentioned it, but my mom had answered the phone so he didn't know if it was a male or a female who called even, just that someone had. So yeah, don't know who that was, but I haven't heard anything more about it so it must not have been that important. *shrug* I'm thinking it might maybe have been the new roomie? Who knows. No idea, don't really care anymore.

In the next day or so I'm going to try and get some back entries in from while I was gone. Yes, I kept a journal while I was gone. Then again I needed to for the class. So yeah. I'll try to get those up probably tomorrow sometime since parent's will be at work and Alex at school and I'l really not have anything to do other than laundry and packing things up to take them back to school again. So yeah. I'll try and get those up soon as well as pictures so check the website in the next week or two for Ireland pictures and check for back-entries here of all the fun stuff I did while I was gone for two and a half weeks.

On the Road [Jan. 1st, 2005|08:01 am]
With being a five hour drive to Minneapolis we left today rather than wake at three in the morning to drive outh there. Alex has to work this evening so he was unable to accompany our parents and myself. The weather was good untill Curtiss where it started to snow. After that it was spotty for a time before changing to sleet and then freezing rain which caused the windshield to ice up around the edges a bit. We spent the night at a hotel in Medona Heights (I believe that's where it was anyhow) after going to dinner.

Stingy? [Dec. 29th, 2004|01:35 am]
The United Nations officially suggested that the USA had been a "stingy" aid donor in view of the tsunami that hit southeastern Asia on December 26, 2004. The Bush administration announced another $20 million in relief for victims of the earthquake in light of this suggestion.

This comment was made due to the idea that NO country has donated 1 percent of its gross national product to disaster relief all year. It is also to be noted that this comment was said to have not been directed at any one country in particular. However seeing that it has been taken, at least by the USA, to have been directed towards the USA lets just take a look at this.

Donations: (www.cnn.com)
USA .......... $35 million
Japan ........ $30 million
Australia .... $27 million
Saudi Arabia . $10 million
Germany ...... $2.7 million

Populations: (CIA Factbook at www.cia.gov)
USA .......... 293,027,571
Japan ........ 127,333,002
Australia .... 19,913,144
Saudi Arabia . 25,795,938
Germany ...... 82,424,609

So yes, the US is one of the largest countries. So what. The US has donated a large sum of money to the effort, and by all reports the amount of aid the USA gives will continue to go up. Besides these numbers only pertain to the official governmental contributions. How much has the people of the USA (or any other country for that matter) donated?

Donations for relief such as that being given to the victims of this horrendous disaster do not come only from the governments. Donations also come from places like the Red Cross, numerous churches and other non-profit organizations. There are corporations who donate every year to organizations like the RedCross and there are medical companies who donate supplies. So rather than quibbling about which country is donating what and which country may or may not be "stingy" with their donations, why don't we just drop it and do what we can to help.

Yes, its horrible. Yes, we (meaning every country) needs to do what they can to help. However, the time it takes to debate over who is donating what to this cause should be put to use for better things, like HELPING the victims of this disaster. The time used up on the news could be better used informing the people of what they can do to help rather than debating a mute point.

The donations of everyday people of EVERY country are just as important. Take a look at www.redcross.org. You can donated right there online with your credit card, you can choose to do so over the phone or by mail, or find a local RedCross Chapter and donate there. Start a collection at your church, school or workplace. Everywhere there's at least one organization that's working to help the people who were unfortunately victims in this disaster.

Of course most of this is just my opinion, but don't you think it would be better use of time and money to put it all towards helping rather than making a big deal out of who's doing what? All you hear about is that this person said this about that person (IE: the headline is "Stingy Americans?"). Tell me what's being done and how I can do my good deed and put my dollar in the pot to help.
